50th Beachcombers Driftwood Show

The 50th Beachcombers Driftwood Show & Glass Float Roundup, March 17th & 18th at the historic Grayland Community Hall, attracts natural beach art enthusiasts and glass float collectors each year to Westport-Grayland for fun and prizes.  

Hours: Saturday, March 17, 10am to 5pm, Sunday, March 18, 10am to 4pm

Featured speakers include:
Alan Rammer, discussing "Fun Facts About Washington Sea Life" at 2 PM, Saturday, March 17
Dr. Curtis Ebbesmeyer presenting "Japanese Tsunami Debris" at 7 PM, Saturday, March 17,  at the Ocosta High School Commons in Westport.  Admission is $5 which is good for both events; ages 14 and under are free.

The Driftwood Show accepts entries of all types including driftwood creations that are "finished" or "natural;" driftwood carvings and floral arrangements on driftwood. There are also divisions for flotsam and jetsam which are typically "found" wreckage of a ship or its cargo that was cast overboard or jettisoned to lighten the load in time of distress that has washed ashore. There is also a photo division. Exhibitors may enter one item in each division. Ribbons will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each division.

In addition, organizers will be hiding tokens on the beach for beachcombers to find and return to the community hall to redeem for a hand blown glass float. Pick up Glass Float Roundup instructions at the Grayland Hall  8 a.m.- 5p.m. on Saturday,  8 a.m. - Noon on Sunday.
